I wasn't a fan, not really.
I knew "Creep" and I think I saw the "Paranoid Android" video a million times on MTV summer 1997 (dismembered cartoons, gay bikers, psycho bird, aliens maybe? Ring any bells?). By the time KidA came out in 2000, I not only didn't get it, I didn't care. It didn't mean anything to me. I didn't even try Amnesiac when it came out a year later. Months went by before I ever heard it.
Then I found myself having spectacular, cerebral sex and Radiohead was the soundtrack.
I was a convert. Completely obsessed. I devoured all of their albums. KidA became my favorite record of the decade (and still is), but Amnesiac will always be the sound of my favorite sex and it opened my eyes to the wide world of sex with music.
I've had everything from The White Stripes' Elephant (unexpectedly brutal sex) to Sarah McLachlan's Fumbling Toward Ecstasy (romantically sleepy sex) to Nine Inch Nails' Ghosts I-IV(intensely tender sex) playing while I got it on and I wouldn't have it any other way.
So I wonder this: what's your sex music? A little Luther Vandross? Perhaps Enigma? Industrial or techno? Maybe silence? Does one song or artist alone get it done for you? If you could compose your own sex music, would you write an opera or a line dance? Like to flash back to the 70's or beam on board the bridge of the Enterprise?
Leave us a comment telling us what grooves you grind to and maybe the next time you're at Condoms to Go or Sara's Secret you might hear your sex music getting us in the mood to find just the right stuff for you.
